In an effort to simplify the search results page so that it’s quick and easy to find the information and websites you’re looking for, Google has identified some features that aren’t being used very often and aren’t adding significant value to users. In the coming months, they will begin to phase these lesser-used features out.
What’s Changing: Google is removing Vehicle Listing structured data
On November 12th, Google began sunsetting the Vehicle Listing structured data used to support the Vehicles for Sale feature on Google Business Profile, also known as Cars for Sale. Vehicle Listing structured data will no longer be used since the features it supports do not drive a lot of traffic to websites.
What effect will it have?
Going forward, the Cars for Sale feature on Google Business Profile will no longer be visible for all dealerships. What will not change are paid Vehicle Listing Ads (VLAs) that appear on the search engine results page and are tied to Google Ads as opposed to organic listings. Additionally, other forms of schema will continue to be used by Google and organic rankings will not be impacted by this change.
How Sokal is meeting the change
In keeping with our top-notch SEO services for our clients, we will be adjusting our approach to meet Google’s changing search landscape. The Google Business Profile section that used to be filled by Cars for Sale is now taken up by the Products section, and we will be revamping our approach to GBP Products in response to ensure the best possible organic presence for our clients.
